For the 2024-2025 year, the residency offerings have expanded to include Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and Anesthesia, with certification from the Arab Board and ACGME for Pediatrics. Currently, there are 12 residents across various programs at Medcare Hospitals. Aster Hospitals has also applied for accreditation for General Surgery and Pediatric residency programs this year.

The Gap of Practice/Clinical Attachment program allows all Medcare hospitals, as well as Aster Mankhool and Aster Qusais, to accept candidates with a gap in practice to gain eligibility for an active DHA license. This program offers a duration ranging from one month to two years and is open to Physicians as well as allied health professionals, including nursing, laboratory staff, and physiotherapy practitioners. This initiative aims to help candidates refresh their skills and meet the licensing requirements set by DHA.
The Student Internship program at Medcare and Aster Hospitals provides accredited opportunities for student observership. The duration of the program ranges from two weeks to one month, allowing students in grades 10 and 12 to gain insights into the medical field and the operations of a hospital. This initiative encourages students interested in healthcare to apply and experience firsthand the various functions within a medical setting.
The University Students program allows those currently studying medicine or allied health to undertake a one- to two-month observership as part of their curriculum requirements. This experience is essential for students to complete assignments related to their studies. All Medcare hospitals accept candidates' requests, which undergo verification and review by the medical director to ensure compliance and suitability for the program. This initiative supports students in gaining practical insights into the healthcare environment while fulfilling their academic obligations.
We have established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Sharjah's College of Medicine to accept their MBBS students for required curriculum observer ships. Most students are placed in Medcare Hospital Sharjah and Aster Hospital Sharjah, given their proximity to the university. Currently, we facilitate rotations in Internal Medicine, Surgery, ENT, and Urology, providing students with valuable hands-on experience in these critical areas of healthcare.
